7.2 PaPCo Text Module

This module is in the PaPCo distribution under papco_XX/papco_modules/papco_text. It grew out of the limitations which the old way of supplying titles to the plots imposed: The top panel controlled the title. With this module any title can be defined as a panel and placed anywhere. The Panel Editor for this module is shown in Figure 7.2

This module allows the user to interactively create a simple text file or to use a pre-existing one, which will be plotted into a panel line by line using the IDL xyouts procedure, thus allowing the use of all IDL font and positioning commands. These are stored in text files with the extension .text in the directory papco_user_XX/papco_products/panel_text and can also be edited outside PaPCo.

By using the Panel Compose Area buttons this panel can be made to overplot some other or all other panels or be put between any panels, providing a lot of flexibility beyond the task of providing a title for the whole plot!

For further information on the use of this module refer to the PaPCo Text Panel Editor help.

To use this module you need to configure PaPCo with it like any other module (see Section 3.5). The first time you use it, you also need to configure the module itself.
